Jam Radio News > "I would give my left nut" - Phish may reunite at Rothbury
June 24, 2008
Rolling Stone magazine recently reported the subtle hints by Trey Anastasio about the potential for a Phish reunion. In light of that, rumors have started that Phish's reunion may be imminent as only days after his interview, Trey was added to the Saturday line-up at the Rothbury Festival, held in in Michigan.
Why the sudden belief that Phish may come together is simple - two of the other three remaining members are already on the bill for the July 3-6 festival. Bassist Mike Gordon is on as a solo act, and drummer Jon Fishman is playing with Colorado bluegrass foursome Yonder Mountain String Band. That leaves only keyboardist Page McConnell.
The interview with Rolling Stone was published last week, and quoted Anastasio as saying, "When Phish broke up, I made some comment about how I'm not gonna go around playing 'You Enjoy Myself' for the rest of my life. And it's so funny because Fish (Fishman) and Mike (Gordon) and Page (McConnell) have been talking to each other a lot lately and now -- it's not that I can't believe that I said that, but its symbolic of how much I lost my mind or how much I lost my bearings or something. Because at this point in time I would give my left nut to play that song five times in a row every day until I die." I know many of us would sacrifice our left nut for the cause as well.
The Rothbury festival will feature more than 70 acts, including Dave Matthews, Phil Lesh and Friends, Keller Williams and the WMDs, The Disco Biscuits, Modest Mouse, Snoop Dogg and more. Organizers are expecting to draw about 50,000 fans to the festival. Check out the Rothbury Festival's Official Website for more details about the festival.
